Mr. John Coderre – MSc, BEng

John Coderre is a retired officer of the Canadian Forces who served in the Military Engineering branch for over 22 years. Following his military career he was the Campaign Director of the United Way of London & Middlesex for many years.

For the past thirteen years John has been an active member of Patient Partners in Arthritis, demonstrating muscular-skeletal examination techniques to medical students and other health professionals. From 2008-2013, he represented Patient Partners on the Consumer Advisory Council of the Canadian Arthritis Network. John also sat on the Steering Committee of the Arthritis Alliance of Canada from 2010-2013 and until recently was on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance. He is currently the consumer representative on the Program Advisory Committee of the Joint Motion Program, a Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research, at Western University.

Since OA has taken away his ability to participate in his life-long favourite sports of golf, volleyball and slo-pitch, John has taken up lower-impact activities such as swimming, cycling and cross-country skiing. He has been a member of the games organizing committee for the Ontario provincial summer and winter senior games. He also participates and has won Gold and Silver medals in both sets of games.

John received his BEng in Civil Engineering from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, and an MSc in Operational Research while attending the University of Birmingham, UK, on an Athlone Fellowship.
