Susan Marlin is the President and CEO of Clinical Trials Ontario. Prior to serving in this position she spent near a decade working in research administration at Queen`s University, most recently serving as the Associate Vice-Principal of Research. In this role she supported research initiatives by pursuing funding and partnership opportunities and by leading university-wide research support and compliance programs. Before this Susan worked with the National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group for many years, initially coordinating cancer clinical trials and later leading the development and implementation of the Ethics and Regulatory Office.
Susan has been actively engaged in research ethics over the years and has served on several research ethics committees. She served as President of the Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards, as a member of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Research Integrity Committee, the Ontario Cancer Research Ethics Board and the Tri-Agency Panel on the Responsible Conduct of Research.
Susan holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology from Dalhousie University, an M.Sc. in Community Health and Epidemiology from Queen’s University, and is currently pursuing a part-time Doctorate in Leadership studies at the University of Calgary. She was awarded the Queen’s Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012 in recognition of her work in support of military and veteran health research.
